Overview

The Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets seeks a Grants Specialist to assist the Grants and Contracts Team and program managers across the Agricultural Development Division to develop, manage, and monitor the various grant programs. The Grants Specialist will also offer program assistance to the Working Lands Enterprise Initiative and the Farm to School and Childcare Program – two of our signature market access and business development programs that support businesses, service providers, and educational institutions.

This position will have ongoing engagement with forestry, agriculture and food-based businesses, nonprofit and public-sector partners, and internally with the business office and program managers. As a member of the Division’s business financial assistance and development team, the Grants Specialist will enjoy team collaboration and being a part of a dynamic group of committed public service providers.

We are seeking an applicant with the following preferred skills:

  • Experience with WebGrants grants management system (e.g., developing templates, running reports);
  • Drafting grant agreements;
  • Tracking grants from application through award completion;
  • Grants management specific tasks including, but not limited to, creating forms, tracking budgets, managing applicant data, developing “how-to” guides for applicants and internal staff, and training grant managers within the Division on WebGrants;
  • Engagement with Lean process and system development;
  • Developing spreadsheets to assist with grant reviews;
  • High attention to detail; and,
  • Ability to work with a diverse team to reach program goals and successful grant outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

Three (3) years or more of experience in the development, evaluation, administration, or fiscal monitoring of grants.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Graduate Work in Public Administration or Accounting

Experience:

  • Experience with WebGrants grants management system (e.g., developing templates, running reports);
  • Drafting grant agreements;
  • Tracking grants from application through award completion;
