Anyone want to work on a foraging project??
I work for the Vermont Farm to Plate Network and run the Rooted in Vermont campaign which is working to change how we think and talk about food by celebrating how everyone does local food in their own unique ways. My colleague and I were talking and with the ever-changing public health crisis we're experiencing, we've noticed a perceptible shift in communities and community members reevaluating how they obtain the food they eat. I feel like this could be a great opportunity to showcase a lot of the foraging/wildcrafting skills that exist throughout Vermont while also sharing them with folks who are interested in expanding their food gathering past the shelves of the grocery store. All from the safe distance of the woods or a computer/phone screen, of course.
Would anyone be interested in joining a video call to tease out what a project like this could look like? If so, comment below or send me an email at [email protected].
Full disclosure; if you want to be a part of this project it would have to be in the spirit of knowledge sharing and building a more resilient food system as there is not money available to pay for your time. I completely understand if that makes this something you would rather not participate in and I apologize.
